Tool / Setting | Description and Image |
Device List | The Device List page displays the list of devices that are connected to the router. Some routers will also show the signal strength on the nodes and clients so you can monitor the WiFi connection and make adjustments accordingly. |
Guest Access | The Guest Access page allows you to configure WiFi settings for guests. Guest Access uses WPA2™ Wi-Fi encryption. In some routers, Guest Access is disabled by default. You can enable it on this page or the Linksys app. |
Parental Controls | Parental Controls allows you to manage usage or block internet access on a connected device or to specific sites per device. |
Priority |
This feature is for Linksys EA8100 and EA7500 only. The router can give your devices priority for internet access. You can choose up to three devices – wired or wireless – to move to the front of the WiFi line. The rest of the devices on your network will share the remaining bandwidth. You might want to assign higher priority to work devices or to devices you use to stream videos or play online games. To learn how to configure this feature, click here. |
Mobile Gaming | This feature is for Linksys MX42SH-SG and MX2001SH-SG only. Mobile Gaming allows you to prioritize internet usage per device. High-priority devices (wired or via WiFi) will always stay connected. Normal Priority devices share the leftover capacity. Drag and drop devices to change from Normal Priority to High Priority and vice versa. You may click on Reset Mobile Gaming to reset this page. It is recommended to put devices for video streaming, online gaming, and other demanding applications on High Priority. |
Speed Check | This feature is for Linksys MX42SH-SG, EA8100, and EA7500 only. The Speed Check feature measures the download (from the internet) and upload (to the internet) speeds of your WiFi. It is a good way to find out whether you are getting the level of service provided by your ISP. Speeds may vary depending on several factors, including how many devices are connected to your WiFi and what those devices are doing. Download Speed is the rate at which internet content is transferred to the router. Upload Speed is how quickly you can upload content to the internet. |
External Storage |
This feature is for Linksys MX42SH-SG, EA8100, and EA7500 only.
When Authentication is enabled, access to the storage device will be available only to those who have the username and password that you have set. Authentication requirements: The username should have a minimum of four and a maximum of 12 alphanumeric characters while the password should have a minimum of four and a maximum of 50 alphanumeric characters. Both can include characters such as an underscore ( _ ) or a dash ( — ). If there is more than one USB hard drive connected to several nodes in the same network, the list of drives will also display. The External Storage widget will only display on the parent node. |
