The Multi-Gig Port feature allows you to lock the WAN port of your Linksys MR7500 to support 2.5 Gbps or 1 Gbps port speed. This feature is turned OFF by default. When this is disabled, the WAN port will auto-detect speeds of 5 Gbps/2.5 Gbps /1 Gbps/100 Mbps.

This article will teach you how to enable the Multi-Gig Port feature on the Linksys MR7500.

Before you begin:

  • This feature is required to be enabled if you are a PCCW 2.5 Gbps internet plan subscriber with a Huawei™ XGS-PON modem.
  • Make sure that your router is set up as a parent node first.
  • This feature is only supported on the parent router. A parent router is the Linksys MR7500 connected to your modem.

Directions

1. Launch a web browser, type “http://192.168.1.1” in the Address bar, and press [ENTER].

2. Click on the mobile image.

3. Enter the router password and click Sign In. The default router’s password is admin. If you are unable to log in, click on Reset password to create a new one

4. Go to Connectivity.

5. Click on Administration.

6. Check the Multi-Gig Port (2.5 Gbps/ 1 Gbps) feature in the WAN section. By default, this option is disabled.

7. Click on Apply and then Ok.

8. Disconnect and reconnect the ethernet cable that is plugged into the internet port on the Linksys MR7500 to properly detect the new WAN speed.

You have now successfully enabled the Multi-Gig Port feature on your router.
