This article applies to the following Linksys models:
- LN1100
- LN1400
- MX6200 series (with the latest firmware)
- MBE7000 series (with the latest firmware)
If you have a Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) connection, it will require either the Plug-and-Play Setup Wizard (preferred method) or manual configuration of the internet settings to establish an internet connection with a Linksys router. This article will show you how to configure the router using a PPPoE internet connection.
Before you begin:
- You will need your PPPoE provider settings ready such as your account name and password. Passwords are case-sensitive.
- Write down the WiFi name, password, and recovery key located on the parent router's product label.
- Parent router/node - The parent router/node refers to the router that will be connected to your modem.
- Child node - An additional node to expand your WiFi such as another Linksys Velop Mesh node.

Depending on the router's current setup status, choose one of the options below:
A. Plug-and-Play Setup Wizard (preferred method)
B. Manual setup (requires a computer)
A. Plug-and-Play Setup Wizard (preferred method)
1. Gather all your equipment in the same area as your modem. After they are set up, you can relocate your child nodes.
2. Remove any existing router:
a. I have a modem with a separate router.

- Disconnect your existing router
b. I have a WiFi router and modem in one device, or I do not have any existing routers in my home.

- Go to the next step
3. Connect the parent router with an ethernet cable from the internet port to your modem and power it ON.
4. If you are adding child nodes, place all child nodes near the parent router, and power them ON.
Do not plug any ethernet devices on the child nodes during setup.
5. Wait until all your nodes have a solid blue light, which indicates they are ready for setup.
If any of the nodes have a red light, reset them by holding down the reset button for about 15 seconds, then wait until the light becomes solid blue.
6. Connect a mobile device or computer to the default WiFi name of the parent router. The WiFi credentials are located on the parent router's product label.
7. Open a desktop browser, enter "www.myrouter.info" or "myrouter.info" in the Address bar, and click [Enter]. You can also log in using "https://192.168.1.1" which is the router's default IP address.
If you get the following message, click Continue.
For Linksys MX6200 and MBE7000, if you get the following screen, your router may be on an older firmware, you need to set up the router first using a web browser.
8. If you receive any browser warning messages, follow these steps to continue.
9. Click on Enter ISP Settings.
10. Select PPPoE.
11. Enter your PPPoE account name and password and click Next.
12. Enter your router’s password. The default router password is the same as the default WiFi password on the parent router's product label. Click Next.
13. Wait until your settings have been saved. Then, complete the rest of the setup wizard.
14. Once all your nodes have a solid white light, your network is ready to use. Connect your devices to the router's WiFi name. The credentials are shown on the product label of the parent router.
B. Manual setup (requires a computer)
If you run into problems with the Plug-and-Play Setup Wizard, you can bypass the setup wizard and log in to the router’s dashboard to manually set up your network.
You will need a wireless computer for this section.
1. Gather all your equipment in the same area as your modem. After the nodes are set up, you can relocate them.
2. Remove any existing router:
a. I have a modem with a separate router.

b. I have a WiFi router and modem in one device, or I do not have any existing routers in my home.

- Go to the next step
3. Connect the parent router with an ethernet cable from the internet port to your modem and power it ON.
4. If you are adding child nodes, place all child nodes near the parent router, and power them ON.

If you get the following message, click Continue.
If you receive any browser warning messages, follow these steps to continue.
8. On some models you will see the following page, click on the Log into router link to bypass the setup wizard.
9. You will be taken to the login page. Click the Reset password link to customize the admin/router password. Enter the recovery key when prompted and click Submit. Then, create a new admin/router password and hint, and click Reset.
You will then land on the router’s dashboard.
10. Click on Connectivity.
11. Go to Internet Settings > click Edit > select PPPoE from the Connection Type field. Enter your PPPoE username and password and any other required settings from your provider. Click Apply and then Ok.
If you have a static IP address, select Static IP and enter your IP address information. Click Apply and then Ok.
12. Wait for the settings to be applied and for the dashboard to show Connected. You may have to refresh the page for the status to update.
Router is not showing online?
- Reboot your modem and wait until the modem has restarted.
- Reboot the router and wait for it to restart. Refresh the screen to check the status again.
- If the router is still not online, contact your provider to double-check your credentials and/or if you need to input any other optional settings.
13. Now that your router is online, you need to set up your mesh network. Scroll down and click on the CA link at the bottom of your screen. This will display a hidden tab.
14. Click on Connectivity again.
15. Click on the CA Router Setup tab. Create a new WiFi name (SSID) and WiFi password. Write down your new WiFi settings for safekeeping. Click Setup Node.
Leave this page open. You will lose WiFi connectivity while your settings are being saved.
16. Your parent router should now have a solid white light. Connect your computer to the new WiFi name you just created once it becomes available and enter the password if prompted.
17. If you have child nodes to add, continue to the next step. If not, your network is now ready to use.
18. As previously stated, make sure the child nodes have a solid blue light. Then, click on Add Wireless Child Nodes.
If the child nodes do not have a red light, hold down the reset button on the child nodes for about 20 seconds, then let them boot up. They should now have a solid blue light which indicates they are ready for setup.
19. Once the child nodes are added to the network, the light will turn solid white. This may take a few minutes.
20. Once all your child nodes have a solid white light, click Done Adding Child Nodes.
Your network is now ready to use. You may need to refresh the page to display your new WiFi settings. You can now relocate the child nodes and connect your devices to your WiFi.
