The default IP address for this router is 192.168.79.1 and admin is the default username and password.

No. Velop and mesh nodes are not supported.

6. How do I log in to the router's web interface?

Open a browser and type in https://linksysxxxxx (the xxxxx refers to the default WiFi name of the router located on the product label. You can also use 192.168.79.1 which is the default IP address of the router. If your router is using a different IP address, use that one instead.

WIFI CONNECTION AND SECURITY


1. What WiFi security modes does the router support?

The router supports WPA2-PSK (default), WPA/WPA2 PSK, and WPA2 PSK/WPA3 SAE.

2. What is the default WiFi name and password of the router?

The default WiFi name is Linksysxxxxx (the xxxxx stands for the last five digits of the router's serial number). The WiFi password is a unique and random password located on the product label.

ADVANCED CONFIGURATION


1. What VPN Pass-through settings does the router support?

The router supports IPSec, PPTP, and L2TP Pass-through.

2. Does the router support SPI firewall?

Yes, the SPI firewall is supported on the router.

3. How do I upgrade the router's firmware?

The router has an Automatic Firmware Upgrade feature which automatically updates the router whenever there is a new firmware available. You can also manually update the firmware.

TROUBLESHOOTING

1. How do I reset the router to factory defaults?

Press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 10 seconds then release. The power light on the front of the router will turn OFF and then start blinking blue.

2. What should I do if I can't connect to the internet via WiFi and my network name is not listed on the available networks?

Try to perform the steps below:
 

  • Verify that your router power and WiFi status lights are solid blue.
  • To assess if you have WiFi range issues, try moving your laptop or mobile device closer to your router.
 

3. What factors can make my WiFi signal slow, inconsistent, and weak or have difficulty maintaining a connection?

Below are factors that can cause signal degradation and the steps you can take to resolve these issues.

 

1. Obstructions between the router and your device such as walls, fixtures, furniture, and metal appliances can weaken the WiFi. It is best to have the router within the line of sight of the clients that will connect to the WiFi.

2. Devices with the same frequency as the router such as baby monitors, microwave ovens, etc. can interfere with the WiFi. You can Turn OFF these devices or relocate your router away from them.

3. Placing the router on the ground. Try to place your router on an elevated surface that is at least 6 ft high.


4. What should I do if my internet light is solid orange and I cannot get online?

Try rebooting your modem and router, then wait for a few minutes. If you are still unable to get online, call your internet service provider (ISP) to check for any connectivity issues with the modem.


5. My Linksys mesh router isn't working with my ISP's 5G router. What should I do?

For the Linksys mesh router to work with a 5G router, your ISP must provide a 5G router with an ethernet port for connection to the parent node.
