What is the Linksys MX2001SH-SG?
The Linksys MX2001SH-SG offers simultaneous capacity for video, gaming, and high-speed data. It is easy to add to a modular system of nodes to give you flawless WiFi everywhere and easily replaces a standard router with mesh WiFi. This router is for StarHub subscribers only.
How do I find the model number of my router?
This model is provided by StarHub ISP only. You can find the model number on the product label located at the bottom of the router, which is MX2001SH-SG.

 

What are the parts of the router?
The Linksys MX2001SH-SG has the following parts:
 

 

Ports:

 

  • Three gigabit ethernet ports
  • One gigabit internet port
  • Power port (12V, 1.5A)

 
Buttons and switch: 

 

  • Reset button
  • Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) button - must be enabled through the Linksys app first to use it
  • One power switch (sliding)
What are its features?

What do the light behaviors of the router indicate?
The light indicates the different states and activities of the router.

 

What type of processor does it have?
The router has a 1 GHz quad-core processor.

 

What are the router's default settings?
With the latest firmware, the Linksys MX2001SH-SG has the following default settings:
 
  • The default IP address is https://192.168.10.1.  
  • The default Guest network IP address range is 192.168.3.x.
    • If the upstream device uses the same IP address, the router will automatically use a different LAN IP address to avoid any conflict. 
  • The router does not have a default admin password. You can create one through the router's web interface or the Linksys app. 
  • The default WiFi name is _VelopSetupxxx where the xxx is for the last three alphanumeric characters of the router’s MAC address.
  • Each router has a unique pre-assigned WiFi password located at the bottom of the router.
  • The default Guest WiFi name is _VelopSetupxxx-guest where the xxx is for the last three alphanumeric characters of the router’s MAC address.
    • The Guest WiFi is disabled by default. It can be enabled using the router's wen interface or the Linksys app.
  • Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) support is enabled by default.
What are the router's weight and dimensions?
The router weights 0.52 kg (1.16 lb) and its dimensions are 3.4 in x 3.4 in x 7.3 in.

SETUP AND INSTALLATION

What are the requirements for setting up the router
You will need the following:

 

 

  • Active internet connection with StarHub
  • The latest version of the Linksys app
  • iOS or Android™ mobile device 
  • Bluetooth® (preferred for setup)
How do I set up the parent node using an iOS device?
The router can be set up through the Linksys app on your iOS device.

 

Can I set up the router using a web browser?
Yes, the router supports web interface setup using a web browser on your computer.

 

How do I add another node to my existing WiFi?
If you would like to add a child node, you can do so using the Linksys app..

 

Can the Linksys MX2001SH-SG replace a router?
Yes, you can replace your standard router with the Linksys MX2001SH-SG.
What WiFi security options does the router support?
The Linksys MX2001SH-SG supports the following WiFi security modes:
 
  • WPA3/WPA2™ Mixed Personal
  • WPA3 Personal Only
  • WPA2 Personal
  • Enhanced Open Only
  • Open and Enhanced Open
  • Open
If I have a mixed WiFi with other Linksys routers as child nodes, can I use WPA3™ or any of the Enhanced Open security options?
No. Other Linksys routers may not support these security options. It is highly recommended to leave the setting to default, otherwise, your other child nodes will disconnect from the WiFi.
How do I add a wired child node to an existing parent node?
You can add a wired child node using the router's web interface.
Does the router support IPTV?
Yes. Routers that are directly purchased from StarHub have support for the IPTV feature enabled by default, which is part of the firmware.

 

Does the router support WPS pairing for adding clients to the WiFi?
The WPS feature is disabled by default.  But yes, you may connect your client devices by first enabling the WPS feature. 
 
  • To do this using the Linksys app, go to Wi-Fi Settings > Connect a Device with WPS.
  • To enable WPS using the LinksysSmartWiFi.com page, go to Wi-Fi Settings > Wi-Fi Protected Setup. 

FIRMWARE UPGRADE

How do I manually upgrade the router's firmware?
It is highly recommended to use the router's automated firmware update feature, which is enabled by default. You can click on the Check for Updates button on the router's web interface to see if a new firmware is available for the router.

 

However, if you need to perform a manual update, you can do so by downloading the firmware file and uploading it to the router using a web browser.

How do I check the router's current firmware version?
To check the firmware version, log in to the Linksys app, tap the menu icon, and then tap on Network Administration > Nodes. Then, tap on your router and look for Firmware Version. 

ADVANCED TROUBLESHOOTING

Why can’t I access my router using 192.168.1.1 anymore?
With the latest firmware, the new default IP address has changed to 192.168.10.1.
How do I access the router's dashboard?
To log in to the dashboard, open a web browser, enter "https://myrouter.local" in the Address bar, and press [Enter]. You may also use the router’s default IP address which is "https:// 192.168.10.1". If you have set up an IP address for the router, use that specific IP address. Learn more

 

If you receive a browser message, follow these instructions to bypass it.

How do I reset the router to factory defaults?
To reset the router, press and hold the reset button until the light on the top turns red, fades, and then flashes bright red.

 

IMPORTANT: Make sure that a bright red flash, followed by three to four quick faded red pulses then another bright red flash occurs before you release the button.

How do I recover my admin password?
You can recover the admin password through the five-digit recovery code printed on the product label at the bottom of the router.
Why don’t I see the Mobile Gaming option in the Linksys app or LinksysSmartWiFi.com?
Mobile Gaming is supported on Linksys MX4000 or MX2000 Series model that is purchased directly from StarHub. If you have purchased the node directly from StarHub and do not see the Mobile Gaming option or other StarHub features, make sure the node has the latest firmware. Learn more.
Why can I no longer see the option to change the Transmit Region?
With the latest firmware, this has been removed. The default region is now Singapore since this model is only for StarHub customers.
I’m seeing a “Why am I getting a warning when I try to access my router settings in a browser?” message.  How do I bypass this error message?

With the latest firmware, the router requires you to log in using https://. You will get the error message if you use http://. Learn more

Does this model support the Speed Test feature?
No. This model does not support the Speed Test feature in the Linksys app or LinksysSmartWiFi.com page. To test your speed, you may go to https://www.speedtest.net.
My Linksys mesh router isn't working with my ISP's 5G router. What should I do?
For the Linksys mesh router to work with a 5G router, your ISP must provide a 5G router with an ethernet port for connection to the parent node.
