This article will show you how to set up the Linksys SPNMX57CF-UK for Community Fibre internet service provider (ISP) subscribers.

There are a few ways to set up your router:

  • Automatic setup: This is the primary and recommended option.
  • Using the Pair button: If automatic setup did not work, this may be due to having an existing upstream Linksys network. In this scenario, you can use the Pair button setup method.
  • Using the web interface: If automatic setup does not work and/or you must enter specific internet settings, you can manually configure the router.

Before you begin:

  • Automatic setup: The Linksys SPNMX57CF-UK supports this setup through the Automatic Configuration Server (ACS). Once the node is powered ON and connected to the Community Fibre equipment, it will begin to detect an internet connection automatically and configure itself as the parent router. If you have reset your node and need to set it up again, do not attempt to set up the node with the Linksys app.
  • Parent router: This is the Linksys node connected to your modem.
  • Child node: This is an additional Linksys node, such as another Linksys SPNMX57CF-UK to extend your WiFi network.

Follow these steps:

1. Disconnect your old router.

2. Connect your new Linksys router to your modem using the Internet port.

3. Power ON the Linksys router.

4. A solid purple light will appear, indicating the router is ready for setup.

If the light is red, hold the reset button for about 15 seconds to restore it to factory defaults, then wait until the light turns solid purple.

5. After a few minutes, the indicator light will flash white, signaling the automatic setup process. Once the light turns solid blue, the router is successfully online.

Is the light not turning solid blue?

  • Ensure the Linksys router is properly connected to your modem via the Internet port.
  • If you’re still unable to connect, contact Community Fibre for further assistance. If you need to enter any specific internet settings such as a static IP address, use the web interface method.

6. Your WiFi is now ready to use. Use the WiFi name and password located on the product label at the bottom of the router to connect your devices to the new network.

The primary setup method is automatic setup. However, if it did not start, this may be due to connecting a router to an existing upstream Linksys mesh network. If you are adding this router as a secondary network, follow the steps below. With this method can be setup both parent and child nodes at the same time.

Before you begin:

  • Parent router: This is the Linksys node connected to your modem or internet source.
  • Child node: This is an additional Linksys node, such as another Linksys SPNMX57CF-UK, to extend your WiFi network.
  • Write down the WiFi name (SSID), password, and the Recovery key located on the product label of the Linksys SPNMX57CF-UK. The password is case-sensitive.

Follow these steps:

1. Gather all your equipment in the same area as your modem. After setup, you can relocate your child nodes.

2. Remove any existing router:

  • a. I have a modem with a separate router.

    • Disconnect your existing router
    • Power cycle your modem
    • Wait until your modem has rebooted and go to the next step

  • b. I have a WiFi router and modem in one device, or I do not have any existing routers in my home.

    • Go to the next step

3. Connect the parent router with an ethernet cable from the Internet port to your modem and power it ON.

4. If adding child nodes, place all child nodes near the parent router, no more than 10 ft away, preferably in the same room, and power them ON. Wait until all your nodes have a solid blue light, which indicates they are ready for setup.

Do not plug any ethernet devices on the child nodes during setup.

5. Make sure all the nodes have a solid purple light.

If any of the nodes do not have a solid purple light, reset them by holding down the reset button for about 15 seconds, then wait until the light becomes solid purple.

6. Press the Pair button for 1 second on the parent router.

7. The light on the parent router will begin blinking while the setup is in progress.

8. Wait for the light on all the nodes to turn solid blue. This may take a few more minutes as the router scans and detects unconfigured nodes.

Light did not turn solid on a child node?

  • Make sure your Linksys router is connected from the Internet port to your modem.
  • The child node might not have been detected, complete the setup process, then try to add the child node using another method.

9. Once all your nodes have a solid blue light, your network is now ready to use. You can relocate the child nodes and connect your WiFi devices to the network.

The default WiFi credentials are located on the bottom of the parent router that is connected to your modem.
