For PPPoE or other types of internet connection, follow these steps.
No. This model does not support the Linksys app. However, you can set up your network using any mobile device or computer through a browser.
Below are the requirements for setting up the nodes:
- An active internet connection with a modem and an available ethernet port
- A computer with WiFi enabled or a compatible iOS or Android™ mobile device for setup
- Latest versions of Google Chrome™, Firefox®, Microsoft Edge™, or Safari® (for Mac® or iPad®)
If your internet service provider (ISP) requires manual settings that need to be entered before the internet can be established, follow these instructions.
If your Linksys LN1600 router came with a bundled package, the child nodes will automatically be added to your network during the setup. However, if you have reset the child nodes and/or need to add more child nodes, here are a few methods available to add a child node.
Below are the default settings of the router:
- The default IP address is 192.168.1.1.
- The default router password is the default WiFi password.
- The default WiFi name is Linksysxxxxx, where xxxxx represents the last five characters of the node’s serial number.
- The default Guest WiFi name is Linksysxxxxx-guest.

To protect your family and block predetermined adult websites and illegal or malicious content, enable the Instant-Safety feature. This function will apply to all devices in your network. Follow these steps.
You will temporarily lose WiFi connection while the change is being applied.
Instant-Privacy prevents new wireless devices from connecting to your WiFi. By default, this feature is OFF.
Before you enable this option, make sure that all devices that you want on the network have first connected to the WiFi. Then you can turn the feature ON. If you need to add new devices, simply turn this feature OFF, connect the new devices to your WiFi, and then turn the Instant-Privacy feature back ON. Learn more.
ADVANCED TROUBLESHOOTING
Remote access is not supported. You will need to be connected to your Linksys WiFi to manage or access your router settings.
No. Use the supplied cable and power adapter to power ON the router.
To reset your router, press and hold the reset button for 10-20 seconds.
While holding the button, the router's light will display a fading red pattern. This pattern will stop after about 10 seconds, and the light will turn OFF. At this point, release the reset button and wait for the router to reboot. Wait for the light to turn solid blue, indicating that the node is ready to be set up.
After your router is online, if the setup wizard is not opening, try the following:
- Make sure that your mobile device or computer is connected to the WiFi of the Linksys LN1600 router that is connected to the modem. The default credentials are located at the bottom of the router. You can also scan the QR code on the router using your mobile device.
- Depending on the browser being used, you can try entering either “www.myrouter.info”, "myrouter.info", or use the IP address “https://192.168.1.1”
- If you are connecting via a VPN software, disconnect it. If you have any security software, try turning it OFF to isolate the problem.
- Try a different browser or try opening an incognito tab within your browser.
The setup wizard has an option to enable Night mode, which turns OFF the router's light between 8 PM and 8 AM. By default, this feature is OFF. Check if the Night mode feature is enabled by following these steps:
1. Access the router's web interface.
2. On the Home page, scroll down to the bottom and turn off the Night mode feature.

No, the Linksys app is not supported. You can manage your network using any mobile device or computer through a desktop browser; no app is required.
If you see any clients or child nodes that are showing as wireless or wired or vice versa, or some nodes are showing online when they are offline, try rebooting the parent router that is connected to the modem. Wait for the network to come back online, then refresh the page.
The child node may be too far from another node; try moving the child node closer. Learn more about signal strength in the Linksys Now web interface.
You can do the following:
- Power cycle your modem.
- If possible, run a speed test using a client device that's wired to the child node's ethernet port. If you are using a wireless client device, connect it to the 5 GHz WiFi network and run the speed test again. Move the client device closer to the node, as the distance and the radio to which it is connected can affect the results. For troubleshooting, you can rename the 5 GHz radio to separate the radios and then connect to the 5 GHz radio to run the test. Follow these steps to learn how.
Ensure that the ethernet cable is securely connected to the port, the child node is powered ON, and it is connected to the network. If the issue persists, try using a different ethernet cable.
