This article will teach you how you can set up the Linksys Mesh network in minutes through the Linksys app using Bluetooth®. This is applicable to the following devices:
- Linksys Cognitive™ Mesh series: Linksys MBE7000, MX6200, MR20WH and MR55WH
- Linksys Intelligent Mesh™ series: Linksys MX2000, MX5500, MX8500, MX4200, MX5300, WHW03, MR5500, MR2000, MR7500, MR9600, MR7350, MR6350, MR9000, and MR8300
Before you begin:
- Download or update to the latest Linksys app.
- Parent node - A Linksys Velop Mesh router/node that is connected to the modem.
- Child node - The child node is an additional Linksys Velop Mesh node that you can add to extend your WiFi network.
- Mixed environments: A network with Linksys Intelligent Mesh nodes and Cognitive Mesh nodes.
- It is recommended to use the same type of models for your network. However, if you need to add your older nodes with newer models, it is recommended to use a Linksys Cognitive Mesh model as the parent node and add all others as child nodes. For more information, please contact Linksys support.
- When mixing different types of mesh nodes, certain features may be limited.
- Familiarize yourself with the router's light indicators to know the status of its operation.
- Linksys Intelligent Mesh nodes (WHW03, MX, or MR routers series)
- Linksys Cognitive Mesh nodes (MX6200 and MBE7000; and MR20WH and MR55WH).
Directions
The Linksys MBE7000 is being used in this article.

2. Power ON all your nodes. The child nodes need to be near the parent router, no more than 10 ft away, the closer the better.
3. Make sure that all your nodes are ready for setup. Depending on the model, your node will either have a solid purple light or solid blue light.
